nervous system nourishment

episode 3

touch is the first sensory system that develops in our body, it does so while we are in utero. unlike other senses - vision, hearing and smell, touch is up close and personal. touch connects us intimately to the people and things in our surroundings. when we use our sense of touch, receptors send electrical charges up through our peripheral nervous system - the ns that extends to our limbs, reaching our spine then brain, the central nervous system. these signals help us understand our environment, whether through social connection or exploration to understand temperature, texture, pressure and even pain.

in this video, together we explore our sense of touch through a somatic exercise. this session is a part of a series of live meditations & somatic exercises where we are not aiming to regulate or control the nervous system, instead, tend to it.
